Why inner Melbourne comes to The Movement Refinery

How We Care for You: Person-Centred Exercise Physiology

Our approach puts you front and centre. Rather than forcing you into a rigid routine, we design individualised movement programming and behavioural coaching tailored to your real-world priorities. We bridge the space between clinical rehabilitation and lifelong physical capability.

1. Objective Science & Comprehensive Assessment

Every journey begins with our two-part diagnostic intake: a dedicated 75-minute comprehensive health and movement assessment, followed by a 60-minute mapped consultation.

We evaluate your posture, joint range, cardiovascular endurance, and balance. To eliminate guesswork, we establish verifiable baselines using cutting-edge VALD performance technology. This data-driven approach gives us exact benchmarks to track your recovery with clinical precision.

Even our group programme has complimentary 30-minute reviews mid-term to ensure that clients are on-track and have adequate support.

2. An Expansive, Multi-Disciplinary Movement Toolkit

We don't limit your care to a single modality or a generic exercise sheet:

  • Targeted Strength & Neuromuscular Loading: Rebuilding bone density (ONERO), tendon capacity, and joint health (GLA:D).

  • Gait Mechanics & Balance Retraining: Enhancing dynamic balance, stability, and fall prevention.

  • Classical Apparatus Integration: Where appropriate, we integrate the full system of authentic Classical Pilates apparatus and callisthenics, challenging dynamic control from the centre out.

3. Seamless Care Delivery & Collaborative Healthcare

Your progress extends far beyond our studio walls:

  • Flexible Session Formats: Work one-on-one with an AEP or transition into closely supervised, bespoke small groups.

  • Digital Support: Access your prescribed home video programme via Physitrack so your progress continues between studio visits.

  • Medical Collaboration: With your consent, we proactively communicate with your GP, Physiotherapist, Oncologist, or specialist team, ensuring unified healthcare delivery.

Direct application of the prescription under specialist supervision, ensuring execution matches clinical intent.

It is our recommendation that clients train 2-4 times per week; it may be beneficial for clients to engage in a mix of 1:1, small groups and autonomous training.

The dose to receive published benefits from GLA:D and ONERO programmes is twice-weekly and mandated by the respective organisations.

  • Measure and evolve

    Recalibration

Scheduled milestone auditing to measure your experience in the programme and which levers need to be pulled in order to keep you happy, healthy and moving forward.

Clients in our group programme receive a complimentary review at the halfway point of the 12-week term.

All clients engage in a 60-minute development 1:1 session at the start of each term.
